About the Action Plan

The Oranga Tamariki Action Plan is the Government’s commitment to ensure that the children and young people with the greatest needs receive the right support and services. 

Under the Action Plan, children’s agencies work together to help children and young people with the greatest needs.

We all have a role to play to ensure wellbeing for children, young people, families and whānau. Together we will find solutions and do whatever it takes to achieve the Action Plan’s objectives. 

The Oranga Tamariki Action Plan is a requirement of the Children’s Act 2014 – it formed part of a series of measures to protect and improve the wellbeing of children and young people with the greatest need.
